Accent Pencil Drawings by Rodney Schertz
|
I have always liked Pencil Drawing and have a natural gift. As a
child I sat in church drawing other people beside me or the
pastor. Drawing became a way to have things I could not afford
and a great pass time. Growing up the more I drew and the
better I became. I like most children aspired to be almost
everything.
After High School I entered the Air Force as an aircraft
mechanic on the A-10 Warthog. Stationed at Nellis AFB, Las
Vegas NV. I then served a tour in England at RAF Bentwaters
where I drew and entered "The Riverside" in the USAFE art
contest. I received first place. I also printed Christmas cards
and sold them at an arts and crafts fair in England. My next
duty station was Davis-Monthan AFB Tucson Az, where I met
my wife Cara. My last duty station was Dyess AFB TX.
After the Air Force we moved to Danville, Illinois. My wife
encouraged me to begin drawing again and we entered into
the "Illinois Deer And Turkey Classic", there we learned
about Ted Nugent's Bow Hunters Bash, it was then that
Cara set up a contract with them to draw Ted. They agreed
and sent a newspaper article on New Years Eve 1994 and
some photos for reference. The picture in the article was of
Ted on a Buffalo.
With a love for the outdoors we decided to move to
Springfield Missouri . After having the artwork lay dormant
for several years while raising children I am back to doing
what I have always enjoyed.
